Glass Jacketed Reactor (Double Glass Reactor) TOPT-20L
Reaction cylinder capacity: 20L
Temperature range : from -80°C to 280°C (Stirrer made of PTFE can withstand approximately 200º)
Motor power : 60W
Actual mixing speed: 0~600 rpm
Power voltage: 220V/60Hz
Motor reducer: 1:3
Double glass vacuum glass reactor, the inner layer is filled with reaction solvent to carry out the mixing reaction, various hot and cold substances (frozen liquid, hot water or hot oil) can be added to the inner layer to carry out the heating or cooling reaction. This glass jacket reactor can be used for both high temperature experiments (maximum temperature 280°C) and low temperature experiments (minimum temperature -80°C) and vacuum tests.
Features of 20L Double Glass Reactor:
1. Use composite seal PTFE, it can maintain high vacuum degree.
2. Use efficient condenser to ensure high recovery rate.
3. The glass set adopts high-strength borosilicate glass GG17 with good chemical and physical properties
4. By adding hot oil into the glass interlayer interface, through the loop, the reaction can be obtained under the condition of high temperature; by adding cooling liquid, the reaction can be carried out under the condition of low temperature.
5. Tap water can be added into it to quickly remove the reaction heat.
6. The discharged material has a flange hole and a valve PTFE, without dead angle inside the container, can be dismantled to facilitate the discharge of solid materials.
7. Digital mixing motor, frequency conversion control, matched with torque increasing reducer
8. Reasonable structure and selected materials. The mechanical components use stainless steel and aluminum alloy, the glass parts use high borosilicate glass, with high temperature resistance and good chemical property. Electrical components: the main components use original imported devices

20-Liter Jacketed Glass Reactor System for Advanced Laboratory Applications
You know those days when you need something bigger than a 10L setup but don't want to commit to a full 50L beast? That's where the TOPT-20L really shines. I've been running this reactor for about six months now, and it's become my go-to for medium-scale synthesis work. The double-jacket design gives you that temperature control you'd expect from higher-end units, but without the footprint that'll take over your entire bench.
Dual-Layer Glass Construction Benefits
The borosilicate 3.3 glass construction isn't just marketing speak—you'll actually notice the difference when you're cycling between temperature extremes. The inner jacket circulates your heating or cooling fluid while the outer layer provides insulation, so you're not wasting energy heating up the room instead of your reaction mixture. I've pushed mine from -80°C to 280°C without any issues, though honestly most of my work stays in the -20°C to 150°C range.
What's nice is the vacuum-sealed jacket design that minimizes heat transfer losses. If you're comparing this to the Glass Jacketed Reactor (Double Glass Reactor) TOPT-10L, you'll get the same build quality but with double the capacity. For pilot-scale work, you might want to look at the Glass Jacketed Reactor (Double Glass Reactor) TOPT-50L instead, but that's a different beast entirely—needs more floor space and a beefier chiller.
Medium-Scale Chemical Processing Features
Here's what you're actually getting with the TOPT-20L setup:
- 20-liter working capacity that's genuinely useful for scale-up studies
- Variable stirring speed from 0-600 rpm with a digital controller that's actually accurate
- Multiple ports for addition funnels, condensers, temperature probes, and sampling
- PTFE stirring components that won't contaminate your reactions
- Atmospheric pressure operation with optional vacuum capability
The stirring motor is surprisingly quiet compared to older models I've used. You can run overnight reactions without that constant humming driving you crazy. If you need the lid lift and rotation functions, check out the Glass Jacketed Reactor with cover lift and body turn function TOPR-20L—same capacity but with automated handling that's worth it if you're doing frequent cleanouts.
TOPT-20L Operating Parameters
Temperature Range: -80°C to 280°C (though you'll need a proper chiller for the low end)
Stirring Speed: 0-600 rpm with digital display
Power Requirements: 220V/60Hz standard lab power
Material: Borosilicate Glass 3.3 throughout
Pressure Rating: Atmospheric, vacuum-capable with proper setup
For chemical synthesis and polymerization work, this capacity hits a sweet spot. You can run meaningful quantities without the material costs getting out of hand. I've used mine for everything from Grignard reactions to controlled crystallizations. The temperature control is tight enough for pharmaceutical research applications where you need reproducible conditions batch after batch.
One tip: invest in a good recirculating chiller if you're doing sub-ambient work. The reactor itself is great, but your temperature control is only as good as your fluid circulation system. And if you're running analytical work alongside synthesis, the Agilent 7200 QTOF GC-MS with 7693 Autosampler pairs nicely for reaction monitoring—though that's obviously a separate investment.
The TOPR-30L with lid lift is worth considering if you're frequently switching between different reaction types, but for dedicated setups, the standard TOPT-20L configuration works brilliantly and saves you some budget for other equipment.
